My name is Helmut Meinerzhagen. I am an artist specialising in illustration and graphic art. I try to create original and thought-provoking work, which may be aesthetically pleasing, shocking or disruptive, using disciplines to explore ideas in unexpected ways. My art and my passion is drawing, which includes: photography, photographics, vector graphics, paintings, illustration, caricatures, mixed media as well as line drawings and sketching with pencil or charcoal, pen and ink and lino printing. I also specialise in photo manipulation.

Technically, an illustrator is an artist but not all artists are illustrators. Illustrators are fine artists who specialise in illustration.
Helmut Meinerzhagen is a graphic artist. He creates visual concepts by hand and/or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. He develops the overall layout and production design for applications such as advertisements, brochures, magazines and reports. For Helmut, the main difference between a graphic designer and graphic artist is the importance of the imagery within his work. His main intention is to facilitate an idea or story.

The mind-blowing techniques of image manipulation
Photo manipulation doesn’t just cover the techniques employed within a darkroom. It also refers to image editing done on a computer, more commonly known as photoshopping or photoshop. As you probably know, the term comes from the popular image editor created by Adobe Systems but there are other similar programs. Put simply, photo manipulation is changing photos to create an illusion. Widely accepted as an art form, photo manipulation requires skill as well as an active imagination.
Using Photoshop, Illustrator and other photo editing tools, digital artists have recently taken it to incredible levels, creating everything from surreal and dark environments to strange and otherworldly animals. Creating unbelievable stories with precision and skill, Helmut Meinerzhagen makes you believe that magic can exist, that fantasy and reality can merge and that we are only limited by our own imagination.
